Tell us about Deeds of a Master Archer

It all began with a picture. While doing the research for my novel Treasure Hunt, I visited a natural cave. The picture prompted all kind of comments from my editor and friend Tami Parrington. She dared me to write a story that involved that cave, and dragons.

Deeds of a Master Archer is about two modern day men who travel through a portal to another place and time where they become a village’s last line of defence against a pack of dragons.

What genre is it?
It’s basically Fantasy, but the content is Y.A. approved.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
Even though the tale can be catalogued as fantasy, I couldn’t help but use the techniques of my preferred genre – thrillers. It should appeal to both bases.

Complete this sentence for us: If you like ___________, you’ll love Deeds of a Master Archer
Eragon .

It’s an exciting story. Were you not tempted to make it much longer?
At times, yes. However, if you read the ending very carefully you’ll notice I left bits and hints of a possible sequel.

That’s exciting. Which of your books should we read while waiting?
This is my only published work of Fantasy. The rest of my work encompasses thrillers in purer forms.  I’d suggest Treasure Hunt for a good old-fashioned suspense thriller (As a bonus you´ll get to see how I used that cave I was talking about in the first question). But, if you want to stick to shorter works, then The Assassin’s Mistress or Absolution Withheld.

You write in English and Spanish. Which language do you prefer to write in? Are there stories that just have to be told in one language rather than the other?
That’s a tough question. Sometimes the story dictates the language. Maybe because of the opportunities that had come my way, you´ll notice I use English for short stories and novels, but Spanish for scripts. One thing I very rarely do is translate my works. Anything you find in one language you won’t find it in the other.

Tell us a bit more about yourself.
I was born and raised in a five-star-country smacked right in the heart of the American continent called Honduras. I know, our politicians made us news-worthy a few years back, but we produce writers, too. :- )

For a day job, I work in the apparel industry, and have for the past twenty years. It is a very changing and challenging job, which is great because I hate getting bored.

Have you got a blog where readers can keep up with your work? How can we follow you on Facebook and/or Twitter?
My blog is www.thetaleweaver.blogspot.com

Please, follow me on Twitter as @JHBogran.

And of course, you can either add me as a friend in Facebook, or just like my Author page.

Where can we buy Deeds of a Master Archer?
Amazon (US, UK), Barnes and Noble. Although, the 99 cent promo is valid only in Amazon at this point.

What’s next?
For 2013, Rebel E-Publishing will be releasing my second thriller novel “Highland Creek.” Also, I’m putting the release of a short story collection titled “A Dozen Shorts.”

Of course, I’m simultaneously penning my third novel about a serial killer prowling in New Orleans titled “A Killer in the Blind Spot.”
Oh, and before I forget, last year I wrote in Spanish the screenplay for an independent movie “Once Cipotes,” which will be released mid-summer.
