In the five stories in this collection, we follow the life of the main character, Celeste, through various ages and stages of her life.

The opening story, “Something of Substance,” is a coming-of-age tale. “The Sheets” paints a chilling picture of how Celeste deals (or doesn’t deal) with her abusive marriage. In “An Honest Woman,” Celeste looks for satisfaction in the arms of a younger lover and finds something she didn’t anticipate. Celeste struggles to find herself in “Cowboys.” In “Intervention,” the final story in the collection, Celeste suffers the one loss she can’t endure.

What genre is it?
As Crazy As You is literary fiction.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
As Crazy As You will appeal to readers who enjoy reading stories that make them think, that resonate and stay with them after they have closed the book. It will appeal to readers who like complex images and ideas and don’t see life only in terms of black and white.

Complete this sentence for us: If you like ___________, you’ll love As Crazy as You.
That’s actually a tough one! I can tell you the names of three of my favorite writers, but I can’t honestly say that my writing is like any piece of theirs. I love Margaret Atwood.  I love Atwood’s short stories and was surprised when I once read an interview where she said that she felt she was a much better novelist than short story writer.  I also love Alice Munro and Michael Ondaatje.  Once again, I can’t compare my writing to theirs.  Like I said, that’s a tough one — either I’m unique or I just haven’t discovered another writer whose writing resembles mine.

Tell us about Celeste.
Celeste is a complex being who makes her way through life in the best way she is able, experiencing obstacles along the way (as don’t we all). She is an intelligent and compassionate woman but she makes some bad choices and experiences negative consequences.  In a sense, Celeste is “everywoman.”

It’s a very clever idea, tracing a character’s life through a number of short stories. What does this tactic give you that, say, a novel about Celeste would not have?
When I begin thinking about a character or a situation, I don’t think ahead of time, “I’ll make this a novel, a novella, a short story, or a flash fiction.” I think more about the story I want to tell and the best avenue for it.  Essentially, I want to tell a story about a character and their emotional journey. In capturing Celeste’s life, I felt that a series of short stories was the best way to go.  I selected to present a series of highlights from her life rather than focus on any one of them or go into a lengthy year-by-year epic.  If a person reads between the lines, they can see the invisible connections from one story to the next.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’ve been writing since I was young.  I’ve always loved to read and it seemed like writing was “the next step.”

I was born in Austria and have spent most of my life in various parts of Canada, including the Northwest Territories.  I also lived in England for a few years.  Right now I live in Fort Erie, a small Ontario town on the Niagara River.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Zoology.  I studied creative writing at the undergraduate and post-graduate level with Rudy Wiebe, Governor General’s Award Winning writer.

My first job was walking thoroughbred race horses at a racetrack in Ontario. I also exercised polo ponies at a stable in England.  I’ve worked as a biologist, a histology technician, an economic development officer, an office manager, a job coach, an immigration officer and an insurance agent.

My interests include reading, nature, horses, art, and, of course, writing.

Have you got a blog or website where readers can keep up with your work? How can we follow you on Facebook and/or Twitter?
This is my website address: http://ingemoore-novelistandshortstorywriter.yolasite.com/

I don’t have a Facebook page about my writing yet, but I am planning one.

At this time, I don’t have a blog either.  And I’m not even close to figuring out Twitter.

Where can we buy As Crazy As You?
On Amazon ( US, UK).  It is also on Smashwords.

What’s next?
Currently I’m working on a novel titled, Savage Dawn, that tells the story of a volcanic eruption in Northern B.C. and a group of people who survive the catastrophe.  Savage Dawn is an adventure novel with paranormal twist.
