Tell us about your new book.
My new book is entitled ‘Lexa Wright’s Dating Sights’.  Lexa is in her thirties, single, and lives in her deceased grandmother’s bungalow with her dog, Beryl.  Lexa is a writer, and as a writer, she is also a procrastinator.  She does whatever she can to avoid being productive.  The story opens with Lexa sitting down at her computer in order to write her novel.  Before getting on with the work, she decides to check her e-mails and comes across an invitation to join a dating site from her best friend, Louise.  Lexa has always wanted to fall in love by chance, like people do in films, but curiosity leads her into setting up an online dating profile.

She meets one man online and goes on a date with him.  The next day she meets another man, by chance, and she goes on a date with him.  Both men are different but she likes them equally, and can’t decide who to choose.  While trying to make her decision, various things go wrong, leaving her in a situation she’s never been in before.

During this time, when Lexa should be writing, she finds herself deep cleaning out her bathroom cupboards and attempting to mow her jungle-like lawn.  While doing this, she finds photos, letters, and newspaper cuttings about her grandmother’s youth, as well as her grandmother’s diary.  Upon reading she discovers things about her grandmother that no-one in the family knew.  She uses this as inspiration for her novel.

What genre is it?
It’s a chic lit romcom with a bit of a mystery thrown in for good measure.  I also like to call it ‘real life fiction’ or ‘fictional reality’.

Hmm, so what kind of readers will it appeal to?
I would love for it to appeal to everyone, but I think it’s more of a book for women who like romance with a few twists and turns.  I think it’ll be a holiday read, or a bit of light relief in between reading the classics!

Complete this sentence for us: if you like _________________, you’ll love my book.
If you like ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ by Helen Fielding and/or ‘dot.homme‘ by Jane Moore, you’ll love my book.  My novel is a romcom but not a trashy one.  Ok, it’s a bit trashy, but not entirely!

Everyone needs a little bit of trash in their lives. Have you written any other books that we should read next?
I’ve written a book entitled ‘12 Days of Krista May Rose‘, which is a collection of twelve Christmas short stories, inspired by the song ’12 Days of Christmas’.  Although it is a Christmas book, it can be read at any time of year.  It also makes a great stocking filler Christmas present.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I currently live in a small town on the east coast of England, with my dog Lily.  I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, but I only started to take the craft seriously after studying creative writing at university.  While at university I focussed on the work of the Oulipo, as I enjoy experimenting with language and the written word.

When I’m not busy writing or procrastinating, I knit, bake, read, swim, attempt Pilates, paint, take photos, get dragged on walks by my dog, and run a Teen Writing Group at my local library.

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?
I have a blog (http://rebeccahgiltrow.blogspot.co.uk/) where I post various bits about my writing, and my writing related activities.

How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?
You can find all my contact details on my blog, or you can go directly to my Twitter (@RebeccahGiltrow) and Facebook if that’s easier.

What’s next?
I am currently working on a sequel to ‘Lexa Wright’s Dating Sights’. Hopefully this should be out by the end of the year at the latest.
