The 50 Self-Published Books Worth Reading (2013/14): Nominations

Nominate self-published book

Love them or hate them, traditional publishers acted as bouncers at the door to authorship and represented a seal of approval that readers trusted. We believe they abused this power, and we are pleased that the indie revolution is leading us into a post-publisher age. However, readers need reassuring. Who will tell them if a novel is any good?

You. Us. Other book-lovers.

This is how it will work. We invite you to nominate the best self-published novels you have read in the past year. We will take these nominations, weed out those that do not meet the criteria (see below), and open the rest up to a public vote. The results of the vote will tell us the 50 Self-Published Novels worth reading.

The rules:

  1. The book must be self-published or published by a small, “indie-minded” house.
  2. The book must have been published on or after 1 January, 2013.
  3. The book must be available for purchase from a large store – Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
  4. Only nominations received on or before 6 April 2014 will be counted.

Got that? Now, how about a nomination or three?

Who We Are:

Indie Author Land is, quite possibly, the internet’s biggest platform dedicated to the promotion of self-published authors. We have interviewed over 1000 indie authors and provided a shop window for their books. So, we have a definite interest, even though we have no dog in the fight.

However, we are aware that the internet is awash with cheap, click-thirsty competitions with rigged results. And so, we undertake to publish a link to a Google Docs spreadsheet containing all the entries and votes we receive, alongside the final results. What we end up with will be the books you – and other readers – have chosen.

I think the greatest book out right now is Debra Webbs vile

  8. 1. TouchStone for play, Sydney Jamesson (book 1, The Story of Us trilogy)
    2. TouchStone for giving, Sydney Jamesson (book 2 in the same series)
    3. Adam’s Apple (book 1 of the Tantric Series by Liv Morris); Adam’s Fall, the sequel, is equally powerful – even more so, perhaps – but without Book 1, the second book would have less impact.
