For readers who haven’t yet read Red Mojo Mama, can you describe Lydia “Red” Talbot and the world she inhabits?

RMM introduced Lydia “Red” Talbot, a widow of three years who has inherited a trailer park in the foothills of the Gold Country of California, and moves there to manage it. She’s needed a change to get her “mojo” back and the challenges of moving from cosmopolitan Phoenix to a small, country town push her into several avenues she never would have expected to pursue – being a newspaper reporter, falling in love and meeting the ghost of her late husband among the things her beloved aunt has left her.

Now we’ve established that, can you tell us about Red is an Attitude?

Red is an Attitude is the sequel to Red Mojo Mama. Attitude takes Red on a cruise, along with her new love Joe, and she makes a whole new set of friends and finds that someone is trying to bump her off. The shenanigans follow her off the ship and back to Nuggetville, the fictional town of which she’s now a big part, and rescuing a woman who needs a friend in the process. There are “ghosts” around in this book, too.

What genre is it?

Romantic suspense.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?

That’s an interesting question, because I’ve been surprised to find that most men really like Red and thus the books. However, my target audience has always been women from 30-65, because her experiences reflect things that this age will have or are going through.

Complete this sentence for us: If you like __________, you’ll love Red is an Attitude.

Quirky, spunky heroines.

Was it always the plan to write a sequel to Red Mojo Mama?  And will the story continue after Red is an Attitude? About half-way through, I realized that Red would have to continue on, as much because I loved her and that there was much more for her to do. I have a third and final book in the works – See Red Run. I expect to have it out before the coming summer.

Can you clear up a point of confusion for us? We heard that you’ve been a pig farmer, a reporter and… a swimming pool counter? Surely, that’s not all true!

That IS all true and much more. I’ve been and done many things over my lifetime. I raised pigs, chickens and rabbits in Oregon many years ago. I’ve been both a reporter and newspaper editor, and actually have just started freelancing for a local newspaper again. Counting swimming pool from the air to verify our pool counts were correct, was one thing I did as Director of Real Estate for a national swimming pool retailer.

Have you got a website where readers can keep up with your work?

Not really, however I do have several blogs – those that have the most to do with my writing are Red Mojo Mama Musings and In The Writing Groove, both on Blogger.

Where can we buy Red is an Attitude?

My books are currently only available on Amazon (US, UK).

What’s next?

I’ve just finished the first draft of a political thriller, as part of the National Novel Writing Month program. What a joy that was! This book is a stretch for me, but I’m enjoying working on a completely new genre.
