Tell us about your new book.

Night Sea Journey, A Tale of the Supernatural dives into the psychodrama of dreaming. Kip Livingston, a successful artist, dreams vividly and paints her dreams in living color. But when she dreams of a mysterious winged being, all bone and muscle and greedy teeth plunged out, when these nightmares break through into her reality, imagine her fear.

The characters:

Kip Livingston is a stunning young artist living alone in Abasteron House on Horn Island. But inside this antique house by the sea, another power rules her nights. What does this fierce winged creature want? Is it haunting her from the secrets of her past … or for her destiny?

Raymond Kera, a priest exiled to Horn Island, falls for the seductive Kip Livingston but risks his own sanity when her nightmares invade his dreams. Raymond knows these dark angels who dominate and the demons of his past—the road to hell is paved with the skulls of priests. With his vows violated, Ray must choose between God and the human love he
so desperately desires.

Garcia the Prophet, Raymond’s mentor, has firsthand experience with the alternate consciousness of dream power. Garcia is a rebellious visionary, possessed by a mystical power and the all-consuming desires of deceit, power, and murder. This conflict propels him to abandon all he loves and seek heaven or hell.

On Horn Island, inside Abasteron House … a tale of the supernatural where the night  ourney ends beneath the ghost-grey sea.

Rich characters, psychological undertones, romance, and murder make this little supernatural thriller a fast-paced read.

What genre is it?

It is a supernatural thriller. Genres are the supernatural, horror, occult, and possibly fantasy.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?

Readers who like stories about angels and demons, ghosts, supernatural entities.
Readers who like the realm of the mysterious. Stephen King-type readers might like Night Sea Journey.

Complete this sentence for us: if you like ______________, then you’ll love Night Sea Journey.

If you like What Dreams May Come by Richard Matheson, you’ll love my book. In fact,
one reviewer made that comparison.

If you like the Exorcist, you’ll love my book.

If you like fiction about angels and demons, you’ll love my book.

If you like stories with a spiritual aspect, you’ll love my book.

If you like books about dreaming, you’ll love my book.

How would you like the reader to feel as they read the final word of your book?

Satisfied! I’d like the characters to linger in readers’ minds after the story ends. I’d like the images in the story to remain with them. And more than anything else, I’d like them to  want to read it again at a later time because they enjoyed it so much.

And … want to read more of my work.

More? There’s more?

I expect my second novel to be released in April 2013. The Dazzling Darkness is a supernatural mystery about a lost child in a cemetery.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’ve been writing forever, since college days, and I love to write; this is who I am. I’ve had five short stories published in ezines and anthologies (two more stories forthcoming in
literary journals this spring). I write every day. I have a third novel drafted that I’ll be working on over the summer.

My reading time is at least 2 hours a day. I write a weekly fiction short story blog, Tuesday’s Tale of Terror, featuring 19-century writers’ work. Reading the master writers is my way of study and perfecting my craft. And hopefully my writing on the blog will stimulate sales of Night Sea Journey.

I am an editor by occupation. I do freelance copy editing, line editing, and medical editing. I have about fifteen years of experience. But I will tell you, even though I do edit my own work, I still hire content editors to advise me about story/plot and characterization, and I hire a proofreader for my final copy. My aim is to present my work as a professional writer.

Because of my editing jobs in advertising, I understand the critical need for promotion to sell anything and rely on my experience from that to assist me in promoting my own work. I’ve done giveaways for NSJ while on KDP Select program and got 1300 downloads. I consider that a pretty good start. I only launched NSJ in October 2012.

My writing career began writing feature news stories for New York and Connecticut newspapers.

And how can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?

What’s next?

Keep promoting Night Sea Journey by getting reviews and interviews on blogs. I’m active on Goodreads and that keeps me in touch with readers and other writers, reviews, and the industry. Keep tweeting my book and my blog and other interests like writing and
editing.

Keep reading and studying my craft.

Keep writing short stories and getting them published. (I have a short story, Abasteron House, that I wrote as a prequel to Night Sea Journey. It will be published at Every Day Fiction by March 1st. I’m hoping to use that to promote the book.)

Complete my third novel. Be happy and enjoy every day!
