Tell us about Disconnect.
Zachary Connor is a young Underworld scavenger who hunts to gain reward from his stall-master and father, but he discovers a prize and breaks the rule of scavenging; he doesn’t hand it in. He is intrigued by the blurred image of an Overworld girl who expresses sadness. A lucky meeting changes both their lives, and causes a twisted secret to unravel.

In space, love has boundaries.

What genre is it?
Young Adult Science Fiction with Romance.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
Anyone over the age of 12. Feedback has been strong from adult readers. The entire novel is written in the third person limited POV, so although there are elements of romance, desire and conflict, it’s all written from the male POV.

Complete this sentence for us: If you like___________________, then you’ll love Disconnect.
If you like Blade Runner meets Minority Report.

How would you like the reader to feel as they read the last word of your book?
That the title makes sense, and that they understand that it has several meanings throughout the novel and isn’t a single entity like ‘The Philosopher’s Stone’.

Please tell us this isn’t the end of the story.
Parts 2 and 3 of Disconnect are due for release in June 2013, and then the start of a new trilogy in November 2013.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I have tried to leave Leicester a few times, but it’s become my place to wake up to two cats, freeze when the heating’s off and most of all, get down to writing. During a night in the jungle (2007), the bug inside awakened, and since then I’ve been sacrificing every second that he can to write. A veteran of writing festivals, a presence on Twitter and always reading to find new worlds. My preferred genre is Science Fiction in YA, though will meddle with fantasy. I have a tendency to throw a droid in every novel – literally.

What’s next?
Redrafting and then having external edits done of Parts 2 and 3… oh and redrafting 2 previous novels, and then plotting 3 more. I have a roadmap for 3-4 novels per year up until 2015 planned out.
