Tell us about Finding Lucas.
Finding Lucas, my debut novel, looks at the what if questions we all ask ourselves. What if we could find the person we loved long ago? And who hasn’t googled their ex to find out where he/she is? Jamie Ross actually goes on a quest to get hers back.

Can you ever really go back to the past? Jamie Ross has been in a toxic relationship with Derek, her former bad-boy-turned-maniacal-metrosexual boyfriend for five long years. Derek’s sneering disdain for her unusual family, second hand wardrobe and job as the associate producer of Chicago’s sleaziest daytime talk show has gone on long enough. But she’s too scared to leave and insecure that she’ll never find love again. When her new boss plans a segment on reuniting lost loves, Jamie remembers Lucas—her longtime “friends with benefits” who she hasn’t seen or spoken to in over ten years. Spurred on by her gang of quirky friends, Jamie goes on a frenzied and life-changing cross-country hunt to track Lucas down. But are some loves best left behind?

What genre is it?
Finding Lucas is a romantic comedy or chick lit.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
It will appeal to women between the ages of 18-118. Men have enjoyed it, too. Finding Lucas is for readers looking for a fun, smart, easy read that will make them laugh out loud.

Complete this sentence for us: if you like _________________, you’ll love Finding Lucas.
If you like Sophie Kinsella, Jennifer Weiner, Marian Keyes and Helen Fielding, you’ll love my book.

How would you like the reader to feel as they read the last word of Finding Lucas?
I want my readers to feel completely satisfied and have a big smile on their faces when they read the last word. I also want them to feel inspired to find whatever it is they’re looking for that will make them happy. Cheesy, but true.

Did you say this is your debut novel?
My second novel, “Everything But,” will be released in the summer of 2013.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’ve been writing ever since I could pick up a pen and being able to write and edit fulltime is a dream come true. I was an ESL teacher to adults, including at the University of Toronto, for over 15 years until I started my own writing/editing business: Perfect Pen Communications. I wanted to work from home so I could be around more for my two young children. And all I’ve ever wanted to do is write. Pursuing my passion every day makes me giddy each morning.

I have written numerous magazine and newspaper articles, am a member of the Professional Writer’s Association of Canada (I have a shiny press card that I smile at daily), and write and edit for businesses and other authors. I have the best job in the world.

Second best – you don’t run a site for indie authors, or do you? What are your websites?
My author blog is: http://samanthastrohbailey.blogspot.ca/
My business website is: http://perfectpencommunications.com/

How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?
My twitter name is: @perfectpen

What’s next?
I am hard at work editing my second novel, “Everything But.” The genre is women’s fiction, and the novel is about Maddy Taylor, a woman who had it all–a gorgeous husband, hot career and the childfree existence she and her husband both agreed they wanted. Until an incident with a Bugaboo stroller changes everything and Maddy must decide between having love or a baby.
