Tell us about The Rainbow Serpent
THE RAINBOW SERPENT is the story of Patricia, trapped in a loveless marriage to a Frank, a brutal man who has threatened to kill her.

She divorces him and flees when he is sent to prison. Three years later Patricia has graduated from university and is looking forward to a rewarding career. She then learns that  Frank is to be released soon
and he knows where she is.

Fleeing to Australia, she finds a new life with a new love, Michael, a local business man who operates hunting camps in remote Arnhem Land, a vast tropical wilderness. She is terrified when she sees her
ex-husband in Darwin.

For safety she goes with close friend Emily to the uninhabited,  remote Arnhem Land, unaware that Frank is following her. He kidnaps them, he will hold Emily hostage whilst Patricia gets his money from the bank.

Patricia drugs him and they escape into the bush to walk to safety. The monsoon is starting, torrential rain will not only make travelling impossible, but also will create immense floods when the crocodiles will move in to feast on the arriving migrating birds.

Patricia and Emily are also their prey.

What genre is it?
Romance plus adventure.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
Mostly women over the age of 35, although many younger people have read it and enjoyed it.  Several commented that it would make a wonderful movie.

We were just thinking that too! Complete this sentence for us: if you like _________________, you’ll love my book.
adventure, when the victim, after struggling against the odds, overcomes their problems.

Have you written any other books that we should read next?
I have written a chapter on the history of an orthopaedic hospital in UK.  I have finished my autobiography, but am  not prepared to release it yet. I am currently working on a sequel to The Rainbow Serpent. As yet I haven’t come up with a title for it.

While we’re waiting on your autobiography, can you tell us a bit about you now?
I spent the first years of my life in hospital in UK. Leaving school at fourteen, I educated myself over the following years. In my twenties I obtained a degree in electronic engineering, a profession I followed until I had a major health problem in 2000, followed by a severe heart attack in 2003.

Now aged 80, I have taken up writing.

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?
I have a blog, http://harrydodgson.wordpress.com.  I hope to have a website up withing the coming month.

What about social media?
I am not on twitter, and don’t keep up my facebook very much. I am not very up to date on social media.

What’s next?
First, a sequel to The Rainbow Serpent. I am also working on a novel in which four unemployed men find an old, abandoned tunnel that runs under the local bank.

Living in Sydney is Magda, who solves problems for international companies, and government agencies, that cannot do it for themselves. She keeps documents in her safety deposit box at the
bank.
