Interview with Rinelle Grey, author of Reckless Rescue
My novel, Reckless Rescue, is a story of love between two people from very different worlds. Marlee’s people are dying—the valuable anysogen gas that covers their planet is making the entire population infertile. When the council tells her she must leave her partner and choose another to improve her chances of having a baby, she’s devastated. She swears she’ll never love again—it hurts too much. Tyris thinks he has everything he wants, despite his world suffering from overpopulation—until his wife leaves him because he is forbidden to have children. In an attempt to convince his world, and his wife, that he’s worthwhile, Tyris goes hunting for a lost planet said to contain untold riches in the form of anysogen gas. When he crashes on her world, Marlee and Tyris agree to pretend to live together while they try to repair his ship and escape from the planet. But as they battle the harsh winter on the planet together, keeping their distance becomes even more challenging than the snow, the council and the risks of a real relationship… Sounds like science fiction. Sci-fi romance as a genre is gaining popularity, but is still not as well known in books as the recent favourite, paranormal romance. Given the age of the main character, and her struggle with gaining her independence from the ‘elders’ of her community, it would also fit well into the New Adult genre/category. What demographic will this blend appeal to? And, of course, if you’re looking for a happily ever after, this book won’t disappoint. Complete this sentence for us: if you like _________________, you’ll love Reckless Rescue. Tell us a bit more about Marlee. What about Tyris? There’s going to be a sequel, right? Tell us a bit about yourself. Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work? How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook? What’s next? |
Thanks for having me here today. It’s quite a thrill to see my book up on your webpage.
Best of luck, Rinelle!
Great interview Rinelle!
Good luck with this and the next – as you say ‘focus’ in between everything else that keeps you busy.
I really enjoyed the book and would be happy to recommend it to others.
I’m looking forward to reading your book, Rinelle, and after reading the interview I know a little more about you. Such as, I didn’t know you homeschool your daughter. I’ve homeschooled my three all the way through high school and it has been great! Best wishes on your novel!
@Sherri Lackey – Yup, I love homeschooling! And I was homeschooled myself for about 6 years. Hope you enjoy the book. I’m reading yours at the moment.
@Rosie Amber – So glad to hear it, thanks!
@Susan Scott and A. C. Haury – Thanks!
