My new book is called The Gothic. It is the last of 2 books of poetry created from a vast collection of work I’ve had for over 20 years. It’s a poetic telling of a very dark period of my life and I think it’s very unique in style, concept and content.

What kind of poetry?
Vampire poetry.

We’re not familiar with that genre.
The kind of poetry that’s in this book leans heavily on Gothic vampire imagery and ideology. It’s very dark, evil, erotic, bloody, depressing, some are even loving and romantic.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
Goths, people who love vampires, readers of sexually explicit material, horror fans.

What should they expect from this collection?
To put it bluntly, I would like to see the reader feeling dark, aroused, wanting more.

Is there more? Have you written any other books?
Yes, I sure do. My first book of poetry is called Beneath Blackened Clouds.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m 38 years old and I considered myself to be a gothic vampire back in the early ’90s when I was in college. I’ve always been drawn to the darker life of the goth and while I lived the life back then, all of this poetry came out of my head. I eventually walked away from that lifestyle when happiness became an addiction for me. But, I’ve always had a love for vampires, werewolves, gothic imagery, ghosts, horror, sex (sorry, had to say it!), and I still do.

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?
Yes, 2 actually. CharlieMLunaJr.weebly.com and blackplanetbooks.blogspot.com. If the weebly site is down, check with the blog.

What about social media?
On Twitter, you can follow me under the @Boudi_Luna name and on Facebook, I go by my birth name of Charlie Luna with my Facebook ID as CharlieMLunaJr. I have a fan page for people to “like” on Facebook and I’m on Google+ as well but the URL is hard to find so a general search for me there should turn me up.

Can you give us a poem that is illustrative of your style?

Chants for the Dead

chants for the dead
flow from my lips
I beg the souls to to inhabit me
take this dead vampire
make me unholy and powerful
attach my wings
so that I may take flight with you
affix my mouth with my fangs
so that I may drink the blood
from the softest neck
give me the strength
of a hundred strong men
so that I may break the backs of mortals
and werewolves alike
bring upon me the powers of darkness
in order to control those who are weak
I beg the souls of the dead
to submit me to their will
I beg to be the tyrant
I beg to be evil
I beg to be the true undead
