Wings of Steele – Destination Unknown is a science fiction, action adventure, that reaches from the surface of our familiar, present day planet, and the safety of terra firma, to the dark, vast expanse of deep space and distant star systems.

In the first book of the series, Destination Unknown, you’ll meet our hero, Jack Steele. He’s an ex big-city cop that left the job to reboot his life and start over. With a love of flying, he restructures his life as a pilot for hire. Accompanied by his ever-present German Shepherd, Fritz, Jack will fly almost anything, anywhere, shuttling new & used planes for clients all over the world.

Nothing could have prepared Jack and his co-pilot Brian Carter, for the carnage, when their world suddenly goes drastically and violently sideways… in a direction and magnitude that no one could have ever anticipated, as an undercover CIA operation falls apart at the seams, sweeping them up into chaos…

So it’s science fiction?
Science Fiction, Action Adventure, Space Opera.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
With strong male and female characters, it appeals to both men and women and my readers range in almost all age groups.

Tell us more about Jack Steele.
Jack Steele is a regular guy but a no-nonsense man’s man who can think and fight on the fly. He’s an alpha male who makes a better leader than a follower but he’s humble about it. He loves women and women love him, but he guards his heart, having had it broken. Hard. He’s not a superman, he’s a realistic type hero, who’s not indestructible, having human foibles. But he’s a fighter, a survivor, a man with a code of honor and integrity… sometimes finding himself in a position to wrestle with his ethics.

Sounds like an all round Hollywood action hero.
One of my readers said: “Imagine Indiana Jones morphing into Hans Solo with a little Captain Kirk thrown in…”

What other things does this bring to mind?
Star Trek, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Firefly, Farscape…

My writing has been compared to Robert Heinlein, Andre Norton, Thomas DePrima, John Ringo, David Drake and David Weber.

What can you tell us about the rest of the series?
“Wings of Steele – Flight of Freedom” is currently being professionally edited, I hope to have it done in July.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Jeff Burger, I was born and grew up in Chicago, Illinois, moving to the Gulf Coast of Florida at the age of 28, where I still lives today with my German Shepherd, Fritz. I return to Chicago on a regular basis to visit family and friends.

Originally drawn to law enforcement like my father and uncle, my extremely creative nature drove me toward a rewarding career in photography, illustration, design, marketing and advertising. With the successful launch of my first book; Wings of Steele – Destination Unknown, I have been able to add writing and publishing to my repertoire.

My choice in career and life in Florida have offered some truly unique experiences which I continues to enjoy. A certified NRA Instructor, I have worked with civilians, Military Personnel and Law Enforcement Officers from many agencies. This has afforded him the opportunity to regularly handle and become proficient with firearms of all types, new and vintage, from all over the world.

An affinity for aircraft and flying have provided many opportunities to fly with talented civilian and military pilots in a wide selection of fixed wing and rotary aircraft. While I finds jets to be supremely exciting, nothing beats the sublime sound or primal feeling of a piston-driven Rolls Royce Merlin V12 in a vintage P51 Mustang.
