Kiss of the Dhampir is the story of Marissa Lake, a girl born of a human mother and a vampire father. Usually, these children — dhampirs — are male, so when Marissa is born everyone is surprised and they don’t know what to expect from her. She is raised by the Daybreak Society, a secret society dedicated to hunting and destroying vampires, to be their star vampire hunter. She is an adult before her special ‘skill’ is discovered, that one trait that every dhampir has that makes them unique and that they can use to destroy vampires. Shortly after that, however, a terrible secret is revealed and Marissa is betrayed by someone she trusts. She goes on the run from the Daybreak Society, but first and foremost she is a vampire hunter, so she also continues doing what she was raised to do.

During her travels, she meets an older female dhampir, Duanna. Duanna tells Marissa the legend about a female dhampir who will meet her mate among the vampires and together they will bring balance. Marissa doesn’t believe she’s the dhampir in the legend…  and then she meets Gabriel.

Tell us a little more about your vampire hunter.
Marissa can take care of herself, but she starts out insecure, dependent on others and scared of the world. After everything that she goes through, however, she becomes more self confident and independent. Even after she meets Gabriel, she proves that she’s not someone to be messed with.

Have you written any other books that we should read next?
The Lockwood Chronicles series—Episodes 1 through 3 are out already, and Episode 4 is due out at the end of this month (June), with another episode to be released every 3 months thereafter.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’ve been in a relationship with the same man for over 20 years, and he’s fairly tolerant of the fact that I fall in love with just about every male main character of all my books. I want to be a full-time writer, but until that happens, I do work in an office. I’m also a music and book addict, love movies and am a self-professed sci-fi/fantasy fangirl.

What’s next?
Right now I’m focusing on the Lockwood Chronicles. A new episode is set to come out every three months, and I have the first 10 written already. Unfortunately, that means that I need to get on with writing the final episode(s). And, sometime late next year, I’m going to try to release my first full-length novel. It’s the story of an alien invasion and the woman who falls in love with two extraordinary men — one human, one alien.
