Interview with Ann M Streetman, author of The Italian Ski Instructor

Shaken by an unwanted divorce, Jennifer was not ready to get involved. Then she met Matteo Soldati, a handsome guest ski instructor at a resort in Lake Tahoe. He would soon be going back to Italy and then on to Switzerland where he taught at Davos and St. Moritz. It was unlikely that they would ever see each other again. But things changed. The Italian Ski Instructor is a good read for people who like sweet romance in unexpected places.

What kind of romance story is it?
Contemporary Romance.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
The Italian Ski Instructor appeals to females 25 and over who like to read sweet romance stories. This one is made for a lazy summer read, and especially perfect for the 4th of July, a holiday that is prominent in the story.

Tell us about Jennifer and Matteo.
Jennifer Robertson was a Navy brat. Her life was shaped by generations of Navy family members. She married a handsome Navy pilot and thought they would live happily ever after, raising Navy brats. Shocked when her husband kicked her to the curb after 7 years of marriage, Jennifer is childless and looking for a new direction.

Then came Matteo Soldati, a handsome Italian ski instructor. During ski season, he teaches in Davos and St. Moritz, Switzerland.  Divorced from his model wife, he lives with his son and parents in a tiny Alpine village in Italy between ski seasons.

Jennifer loves San Diego and hates cold weather. Matteo loves the rugged snowy Alps. The barriers of culture and distance appear to be overwhelming.

Complete this sentence for us: if you like _________________, you’ll love my book.
If you like stories that lift your spirits, you will love my book. My characters are imperfect people who find their way. They are characters that rock for the right reasons.

Have you written any other books that we should read next?
My novel Redeemed is a sweet romance between a woman who had lost her dream job in Manhattan and a sexy, handsome wounded warrior who had lost his leg in Afghanistan. And, yes, he’s Italian, too. Italian American whose family runs a diner in Brooklyn.

Another Italian!
I don’t think I am done writing about handsome Italian men. They are such good characters! Please stay tuned.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I may have inherited my interest in storytelling from my father who could spin a good tale. Then came my degree in journalism and a lifelong career in many kinds of communication.

I served more than 14 years in association management.

Before and after association management, I enjoyed freelance manuscript book editing (21 books).

Along the way, I also served for 9 years as media contractor for Region 6 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (5 states and the Indian Nations via the Bureau of Indian Affairs Indian Highway Safety Program). My duties there included writing many news releases, news conference notifications, public service announcements, and educational materials for Region 6 entities and their partners.

Now I enjoy writing ebooks for adults and children. In addition to the two novels mentioned in this interview, I have published two collections of short stories, a book on PR basics, a how-to book on digital storytelling, and several children’s books.
