Worlds Apart is about the intersection of our world with a magical dimension. Tina Cassidy, a beautiful young doctor, has a one-night stand with a stranger passing through her small forest town. She is soon caught up in a deadly plague that decimates the town. When she realizes she is pregnant, she decides to keep the baby, unaware that her one-time lover was a werewolf from a magical dimension.

Clive Winslow, Tina’s erstwhile lover, has returned to his own world, in pursuit of a killer who has breached the boundaries between worlds. He doesn’t realize the killer is still in the human world, hiding in plain sight.

Their paths collide when the killer takes Tina hostage, determined to steal the power growing in her unborn child. Clive must find them and defeat his enemy before he owns Tina’s soul.

So there are two worlds?
This story literally has two worlds, in different dimensions. There are rules and laws that keep the worlds separate, but now there’s a baby, conceived by a man and woman from each world. This unborn child not only bridges the worlds, he also carries a possible cure to a terrible curse. A lot of people are depending on his survival.

What genre is it?
Worlds Apart is Paranormal Romance. Also Urban Fantasy.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
Mostly women, I guess. People who like their fiction to contain hot romance without sacrificing mystery or action. People who like a touch of paranormal based on scientific reality. Readers who understand that another world CAN exist alongside ours and that the fun really begins when the worlds intersect!

Tell us about Tina Cassidy.
Tina Cassidy is one of my favorite characters. She’s All Woman: smart, educated, compassionate, and horny! Tina is in her early thirties, and is a general practitioner in a small Oregon town. She is devoted to her job, her patients, and her community, but she is also very much in touch with her body and her needs as a woman. She likes her sex hot and hard, and is not afraid to go where she can get it.

Wow, you’d better tell us about her man then.
Clive Winslow is a character who took me by surprise. When I started the book, I didn’t ask much of Clive – I just wanted a hot, convenient body to sweep Tina off her feet. But Clive turned out to be the needy one – a man with deep feelings and a lifetime of hurt. He’s spent his life fighting upstream against prejudice and rejection, answering all critics with honesty and compassion. When Clive falls in love, he can only do it with his whole being. I really hope women fall for him!

We’re guessing many, many women will.
I want them to feel hope. Contentment that Clive and Tina have chosen each other, and confidence that they will overcome the obstacles they still face.

Complete this sentence for us: if you like _________________, you’ll love Worlds Apart.
If you like Outlander, you’ll love my book.
If you like Twilight, you’ll love my book.
If you like Harry Potter, you’ll love my book.

Have you written any other books that we should read next?
I have an historical fantasy called Moon Over Donamorgh, which takes place in Ireland in1803.

I also write science fiction and have two novels in the Time Travel Journals Series. Shipbuilder takes place in the past – 1906 Belfast, where Thomas Andrews is building the Titanic. Bridgebuilders continues the story in the future, with Tom’s grandaughter, Sarah. (Shipbuilder is based on the life of Thomas Andrews, but Sarah is completely fictional).

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m a lot of things, mostly because I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up! Most of the time, I write or cook, teach natural childbirth classes, sometimes garden, travel with my husband, and visit our six children and nine grandchildren. Everything else gets squeezed into the cracks!

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?
Yep. I blog at www.marlenedotterer.wordpress.com. The website also includes information on natural childbirth and holistic living.

How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?
I’m on Facebook at www.facebook.com/marlenedotterer.

What’s next?
I’m working on a science fiction story about a sentient planet, called Verdandi. Also a sequel to Moon Over Donamorgh, and the third time travel book. It’s anyone’s guess which one I finish first!
