We loved your last book, Daniel’s Bride. Tell us about your new novel.
FALLING FOR JACK is a family oriented romance about second chances and self discovery, set in Auckland, New Zealand. It’s a “colliding worlds” story – two people who came from different backgrounds and now their situations are reversed.  It was Readers’  Choice winner in the Romance Writers of New Zealand Clendon Award.

Congratulations. Tell us more.
Jack has come from a tough background, from a family of violence and neglect,  but he’s risen above it to become very successful at his business. He has a very small group of loyal people around him – his friend Ethan,  his housekeeper, and his PA but his personal life (romantic life), is down the toilet.

Heroine Robyn came from the same small town as Jack, but their childhoods were completely different. She was the high school principal’s daughter, the brainy girl destined to be a doctor and do great things in life. But all that fell apart and  now she’s a struggling single mom (of twins, Ruby and James), her ex husband offers no support, but she has a dream to start a kids clothing range and support her family that way. She’s plagued with doubt, though –  the kind of insecurity I think a lot of moms feel when they are raising children with little support, and  feel they aren’t doing a good enough job.

What genre is this book?
Short, heartwarming contemporary.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
Readers who want a break from sex and violence!!

No sex? In this age of Fifty Shades of Grey, will readers go for that?
I hope the fact Jack and Robyn don’t  head down that path, even though the opportunity is there, comes off as being real and believable.  I did wonder how well it would do, given that sex does sell, and it’s bucking the trend to write a romance without sex . You only have to check out covers to know most books are sexy reads and when I look at my writer friends, most  (in fact, I think all!) are writing pretty sexy books across genres – historical, paranormal, Harlequin Desire, and some definite erotica. This is not an erotic read, it’s not paranormal, its grounded in reality (I think!)  – I hope it’s a story that readers will pick up and really enjoy.

We know all about Daniel’s Bride, but have you written any other books that we should read?
An anthology of short stories, Love the Commute – a reviewer described it as non-cheesy Hallmark which I thought was just lovely.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I live in New Zealand with my family and tried for 20 (yes, 20)  years to sell to Harlequin. Thank goodness the world of “indie authors” opened up! I work in the heritage and research department of a public library at the moment – great because I get to write blog posts about the past and do all kinds of neat research.

Where do you blog?

How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?
Twitter is @joanneauthor.

What’s next?
Blue Creek Bachelor. It’s a ranch romance, set in Wyoming with a vet hero and a heroine on the run, with her young son –  she’s running from the past, a woman with secrets!
