Two Weeks in Costa Rica is a travelogue that shares one winter-worn couple’s escape from the daily grind to the jungles and beaches of paradise. Unlike other travelogues, it incorporates travel tips and relevant country information throughout the storyline.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
The book will obviously appeal to those traveling to Costa Rica, but it’s also a good book to read on the beach or while curled up next to a warm fire in the middle of winter.

As one of our readers commented, “This book is like going out to dinner with friends who have recently returned from Costa Rica and who are telling you many interesting stories about their trip.”

What sort of stuff can we get up to in Costa Rica?
Swinging in hammocks, learning about new cultures, and find yourself looking for adventure around every corner.

Tell us how you and your wife, Jennifer Turnbull, chose Costa Rica.
We’ve been together since high school and keep on finding new adventures in life, together. In the book, we make our vacation an adventure in itself by just landing at the airport with no previously made reservations whatsoever.

Jenn co-authored the book with me but in order to make it reader-friendly, we kept the voice as mine.

The purpose of writing the book really was to share our love for the country. We would hope that those feelings are portrayed and the reader is left wanting to find their own unique adventures in Costa Rica.

Must have been a challenge writing with your spouse.
At times, writing together was a challenge but for the most part it was great to have someone to bounce ideas off of. We learned early on that we wouldn’t stay married if we wrote at the same time! Writing separately and tracking changes in the document was a much better option for us. Finding time to write with our full-time jobs was also difficult. Eventually, though, we fell into a routine where Jenn would get up early and I would write after work. That’s when we made the most progress.

We’re glad you made it work. Have you written any other books that we should read next?
Not yet but we have two in the works. The first will be about our experiences moving to Costa Rica. Yes, we moved here, quit our day jobs in the United States and are now living in Costa Rica full-time! It isn’t always easy living in a foreign country, even in paradise, but what better material for writing.

Wow, you moved to Costa Rica! We’re jealous. You said there was going to be a second book?
For book two, since we’re already in Central America, we plan on spending a lot of time in Panama and writing a travelogue about our experiences.

Tell us more about yourselves.
Jenn and I are both originally from Maine, spent several years in Vermont, and most recently lived in Boston, Massachusetts. Back in the States, Jenn was an attorney and I was the operations manager of a landscape construction company. We love the tropics, warm weather, strong coffee, nature, hiking, and good food and drink. We were made for Costa Rica.

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?
Yes, we have a website where we share travel information and updates about our move: www.twoweeksincostarica.com.
