There’s something that lies within my memory. Hidden in the dark. Something that can kill me and those that I love. But I was in an accident, covered in mystery and deception. And my memory…was lost. There are those who want me to remember. I don’t trust them. And those I do trust…are fighting for me to forget.

My novella, Made to Forget,  is the first of a series that take place  about 240 years in the future in my hometown of Wichita, Ks . It features two new races that share the world with humans and a complex plot involving  Elsabetha, a sergeant in the Aurora Vanguard, struggling to find out what happened to her after waking up in the hospital with no memory.

So this is science fiction?
This is a sci-fi/fantasy.

Got it. What kind of readers will it appeal to?
Readers who love high tech futuristic stories featuring strong female characters will enjoy my novella.

Tell us about this strong female character.
Elsabetha Ehlers is the main character. She’s strong, loyal, and believes in fighting for what is right.

Noah Ehlers is (obviously) Elsa’s spouse, but she doesn’t remember him. He took her memories to protect her when  a mission went wrong.  The special thing about Noah is he’s Nepherium, a race of people that made themselves known to humans and brought peace to the world.

Oh wow. This is sounding more and more interesting. Is there anyone else we need to meet?
Alexander Barabbas is a very powerful and influential man. He’s also Aagrarian. But the Aagrarians kept themselves hidden for years, biding their time for the Nepherium to fall out of popularity and take over. To them, humans are meant to be slaves, worshiping their race as gods.

How would you like the reader to feel as they read the last word of your book?
This is a tough one to answer. It’s left on a cliff-hanger. I’ve had some that loved it and some that hated it. Either way, I hope it keeps them looking forward to the next installment.

And will that be coming soon?
I’m currently working on the second in the series, tentatively called Forced to Remember.

Have you written any other books that we should read next?
I’ve written an adult fantasy called Heart Song.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m a mom, wife, reader, editor, and (of course) writer. I live in south central Kansas with my three kids, two dogs, cat, and husband.  I’m always working on something, whether it’s writing, editing, promoting, marketing, networking, supporting indie authors, or some other creative release.  I tend to be a bit addicted to Guild Wars 2 and social networks like Pinterest and Facebook. Of course, I always find time for all things fantasy.

How can we feed your social media addiction?
@SamLaFantasie.

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?
samanthalafantasie.com.

One final question: Made to Forget – that’s talking about Elsabetha, right, and not your book itself?
I struggled with nailing a good title down. I’ve even had an author warn me to change it, stating it could come back to bite me in the bum in reviews. I wanted something that fit the theme of the story. Elsabetha was, inevitably, made to forget everything that endangered her life. Her memories were taken. She had no choice. I thought of a few other titles, but none seemed to fit as well as Made to Forget did.
