If you’d like to get the Democrats out of power, you will love my book.

My book, “From Trudeau’s Canada to Obama’s America” is an analytical study of North American politics as it chronicles my family’s political migration from liberal Canadian to conservative American.

I was a first generation immigrant to Canada, we moved to the U.S. 33 years ago. We were once huge fans of Pierre Trudeau, who, to many, was larger than life with his movie star looks, impressive intellect and soothing views on social justice and multiculturalism.

So sort of like Barack Obama today? What changed, and how?
My family made a sea-change in political leaning, from Left to Right, from liberal to conservative, largely due to my younger son, a Milton Friedman-influenced Reaganite. This change, which happened through several decades, is chronicled in emails written by my younger son to his older brother;  finding them well written and meaningful, I compiled and edited to form the foundation of this forward-looking, eclectic and insightful book.

My older son,  virtually bed-ridden with Multiple Sclerosis, was the original recipient of these essays, written and sent by his younger brother to him. These email essays cover political perspectives, personalities, presidential histories, public policy issues, and economic issues.

What kind of readers will your book appeal to?
People who are interested in Politics, Modern U.S. History, Economics and Public Policy issues,  such as Healthcare.

These essays, you say, converted you from a liberal to a conservative; what would you like your reader to take away from them?
I would like the reader to realize that it is in our hands to steer our country into re-affirming its pre-eminence in the world.

You sound disappointed with the status quo. Is your book… anti-American?
We moved from Canada to United States, and in that transition what we learnt  about our leaders and their political philosophies made us move from the Left to the Right. Our admiration and love for the United States is now ingrained in us, even with a liberal President.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family.
I am a 72 year old retired female who has had the responsibility of looking after a severely handicapped adult son for the last 25 years. 4 years ago, my younger son, a highly compassionate and brilliant man, was convicted of hedge fund fraud and is currently at the mercy of the Federal Justice system. Unable to travel, the only contact we have with my son is through emails allowed by the prison system. When life throws lemons at you, you make lemonade!

I decided to make a project of compiling and editing these emails into a cohesive non-fiction book as a tribute to both my sons!

I am sure they appreciate it.
I have already spent my savings on self-publishing this book, so unfortunately, I cannot spend money to publicize the book. I don’t expect to make any meaningful profit, but if there is any, it will benefit M.S. related causes.

And that’s something both sides of the political spectrum can probably agree on. Any plans for further books?
My next book will also be a non-fiction, related to the corporate world in America.
