The Bow Wow Club is a about thirty five year old Ruby ,who after a shocking bereavement at such a young age begins to question whether or not she will ever be happy again.

Encouraged to face her demons she volunteers at The Bow Wow Club (Boyfriends of Widows, Wives of Widowers). Handsome author, Michael Bell throws a love interest into the mix, plus a dark family secret adds to her confusion. It is full of darkness and humour, but basically conveys how love in all its glorious forms ultimately pulls her through.

Boyfriends Of Widows, Wives Of Widowers, huh? That’s very clever.
What genre is your book?
It is contemporary Women’s Fiction. I like to call it “Chick Lit with a
Kick”.

We like that.
Can you tell us a bit more about Ruby?
Ruby is a feisty, fun redhead who lives in Putney, London. She designs clothes for a living and has a myriad of eccentric friends. The love of her life dies at the start of the book which throws her life into turmoil.

Ruby’s new love interest is the very tall author Michael Bell. Unbeknown to Ruby he is writing a novel based around their relationship.

Any other characters we need to meet?
Simon Dye l is the eccentric gay vicar who runs The Bow Wow Club. He offers a big element of humour in the novel.

Fi O’Donahue is Ruby’s mad Irish best friend, who causes quite a stir with the vicar!

Have you written any other books that we should read next?
The Bow Wow Club is the sequel to Working it Out, where Ruby gets made redundant and decides to undertake twelve jobs in twelve months until she finds the one of her dreams.

So do we have to read the books in order, or can we read The Bow Wow Club as a stand alone book?
Yes Bow Wow can be read as a stand alone book.

And will there be further Ruby novels?
No immediate plans to see Ruby again but she is a very popular character so never say never.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Award winning author Nicola May lives in Ascot in Berkshire with her RSPCA mad cat Stanley. Her hobbies include watching films that involve a lot of swooning, crabbing in South Devon, eating flapjacks and enjoying a flutter at the races.

The Bow Wow Club is Nicola’s fifth novel.
