Tell us about Seeking Angel.
Bull and Tommy, two NYC detectives with personal problems are put together by their superior in the hope that they will screw up so badly the department will be able to get rid of them once and for all.
Detective Bull Protettore stumbles across a body and recognises a signature MO which belongs to a serial killer responsible for the death of his fiancé two years previously.

Enraged and alarmed Bull barely controls his desire for revenge. Tommy, drinking heavily and verbally assaulting harmless motorists and pedestrians, helps Bull in his own inimitable way to track down the killers and exact their own form of justice with malicious forethought.

A group of sophisticated city dominatrices appears to hold the key to the identity of the killer. Bull and Tommy separately attempt to infiltrate the group with disastrous, often hilarious consequences. Bull falls in love with one dominatrix and Tommy falls under the spell of another.

Seeking Angel gives an intimate explicit insider’s view of a BDSM group of slaves and their owners.

What genre is it?
Seeking Angel is a murder/mystery/ action novel with some kinky BDSM action featuring dominant women.

What kind of readers will Seeking Angel appeal to?
Anyone who likes a mystery challenge to figure out who done it. It does have some BDSM content but is not as explicit as Fifty Shades Of Grey. It contains real life – action and humour, evil and good, romance and stupidity.

Cops, action, BDSM, humour – you seem to be quite comfortable flitting between genres.
I like most genres. As a kid I read all kinds of books from non-fiction and right through every kind of fiction genre.

Complete this sentence for us: If you like______________, you’ll love Seeking Angel.
Jack Reacher novels.

Tell us a bit more about your protagonist, Bull Protettore.
Bull is a big ruggedly handsome guy with an anger management problem. As a heavyweight boxer he badly injured an opponent when he lost his temper in the ring. He joined the Police and unfortunately his anger problems persisted, especially when his fiancé was murdered and the killer remained at large. Bull comes from a tough neighbourhood but his heart is in the right place.

Writing a book is never easy, but other than that, what has been the toughest part – editing or marketing?
The rewrite. My first drafts are generally not that great and the story really seems to unfold in the re-writes. Editing by a pro is essential and a writer must not be too precious regarding his/her manuscript. Marketing is tough for the small publisher but the internet is a great tool.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I have led an exciting life in some ways. I left school at fifteen and became a mechanic. I loved rugby, surfing, swimming and horse riding as a boy and young man. I joined the Police in NZ and  served for ten years in South Auckland which was considered our toughest district.
I also served six months working with an undercover squad in the district and those months were full of excitement and action. Of course I saw many sad things as well but the good outweighed the bad. After a bad motor accident I was invalided out of the Police and tried my hand at plastering, horse breaking and training Harness horses. Then in my fifties I returned to my first love, writing. I go fishing for snapper in the Hauraki Gulf when the weather is right.

Wait a second, you live in the legendarily beautiful New Zealand and you chose to locate your story in the grimier parts of New York?!
There is a background plot which is based on US soil which means that NYC is a good location for the action. All readers need to know about this fiendish plot will be revealed in book two – all I will say is that there is a connection with the Vietnam war. This is an American story because of the way the plot unfolds.

Have you got a blog where readers can keep up with your work?
Yes here it is. http://bullprotettoremurdermysteries.blogspot.co.nz/

Where can we buy Seeking Angel
Smashwords, and Amazon: Kindle and Printed version.

What’s next?
The Secret Empire, a steam-punk romance/adventure novel, has been published as an ebook with a printed version to follow shortly.
My co-author and I are working on the sequel to The Secret Empire. (There are to be four in total)

I have nearly finished a black comedy about a man infected by miniature poodle who is in turn carrying the werewolf virus. No title yet but the man becomes part poodle, part human and turns into a Huoodle under the full moon. If that is not enough he is also desperately trying to break his virgin status and avoid being eaten by a werewolf who won’t tolerate another in his territory. This novel is set in a small town in NZ.

The sequel to Seeking Angel is on hold for a few months while I complete these other projects.
