When Jenna’s marriage is in trouble, she goes to Greece on a whim as she comes to terms with the idea of divorce. She accidentally becomes involved in an artefact smuggling ring, meets fellow traveller Tom, who is not all he seems and falls in love with Nikos, the taverna owner.

Nikos has his own past though and it seems Jenna may not be able to escape her past either as her husband follows her to Greece. There is a Sliding Doors moment but it’s not until twenty-five years later that we discover the answers to some of the questions when Jenna’s daughter follows in her footsteps.

What genre is this?
I don’t like to be pigeon-holed but it’s essentially women’s contemporary fiction. It is a romantic mystery with a paranormal twist.

In the vein of?
Sara Alexi.

Tell us more about Jenna.
Jenna is at a crossroads and although she’s quite a tough character inside, she’s been brought up to be polite and respectful so she tends to be put upon by others. The book is about her journey to discover who she is and by the end of the book she’s much stronger as a result of all she’s been through.

I wanted to portray a woman faced with difficult decisions and how they impact on others around her. It’s also about destiny and how we can’t control it but sometimes if things are meant to be, they will happen – just not maybe in the way we think they will.

So at the end of –
– I couldn’t leave the characters so you can be sure that this isn’t the end.

You’re writing a sequel?
I’m currently working on my second book. It’s set on the same Greek island and features some of the characters from ‘ Jenna’s Journey’ but it’s not a sequel.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born in a small mining village in South Yorkshire and studied French Language and Literature at Hull University. After spending a year in France I got the travel bug and taught English in Greece, Poland and Thailand. I eventually settled down in Gloucestershire where my husband and I have been renovating our home for the last nine years. My passion is reading and we will soon need a bigger house at the rate in which my books are threatening to overtake all the space.

Tell us about it. We’ve got the same problem.
