Interview with Tom Tinney, author of Threads

This is a Scifi Psychological Thriller spanning the known galaxy and the next 500 years of human history in a unique future and universe created by its author.

It’s the year 2576 and socialism is dead.

Unfortunately, man’s inhumanity to his fellow man is not. In a universe full of opportunity for all, a chance encounter plants an evil seed and a psychotic killer begins stalking the female population of the MetroStellar.

In another part of the galaxy, a lone USS Marshal on a routine undercover mission stumbles into a 300-year-old cover-up. Things are never what they seem to be and both cases begin and end with the Intra Stellar Transportation and Exploration Company (ISTEC) and the planet they control, Exodus.

To close both cases will require the combined skills of the marshal and his twin brother, as they use their special bond to overcome the forces working against them and seek justice for those they have sworn to protect.

What genre is this?
Threads is a Science Fiction/ Thriller and a strong adventure novel, as well.

Tell us about these twins.
Matthew and Mark Williams are twins and USS Marshals in the year 2576. They are both very good at what they do, but they also have some deep seated insecurities about their ability to succeed. Everyone around them has great confidence in their teamwork and closing rate. They have not seen each other in a long time and their lives are on different trajectories, but they interact everyday, so their relationship is anchored.

What’s the story behind your book’s title?
I would love to tell you, but it’s revealed in the book. Best leave it there for the reader to discover.

Have you written any other books that we should read next?
I am working on my next two novels now. “Weaves” Book Two of the Fabric of the Universe and “Blood of Invidia:The Maestru Series”, a story about Vampyr’s and Aliens,  co-written by my son.

Oh really? Tell us about yourself.
First and foremost, I am an Biker-Nerd. It seems like those two things would be in conflict, since wearing either hat (or doo-rag/leather vest) at an opposing event would surprise people. What it really allows me to do is toss out my opinions and ideas on any subject with no governor, since neither “group” is sure what to make of me. Of course, being 6’3” of 300 lb biker means people that are displeased with my position are polite with their response.

I served in the military (USAF) as a long range radar tech, worked in aerospace, ran tool shops, and became an instrumentation sales manager. I am also an engineering director…all with a basic high school education. The ability to get my message across and gain people’s confidence is part of what I am and it translates well into the written word.

When I was giving serious thought to writing a novel, instead of articles and short stories, most of my circle thought I would write a biker novel, but instead I went with the subject that lets the imagination fly and has unlimited options. I wrote a Science Fiction book. The first of many to follow.

There’s another, more serious, reason behind this book, isn’t there?
“Threads: Book one of the Fabric of the Universe”, only exists because I was telling a friend about “this idea I have for a book I should write “ and he was adamant I actually get it done. So I did. As I was writing, our personal lives were sent spinning when my best friend’s wife began really showing the symptoms associated with her ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). That is part of the reasons that 10% of the profits go to ALS charities.
