The Madness Analog is story of a tenacious Mossad agent, working for the counterterrorism division of the FBI in New York City. It is also the story of an enigmatic and alluring woman of mystery; one who may or may not be who she seems, and the forces that bring these two people together.

Tell us more.
Our ‘hero’, Special Agent Matt David, is relentlessly stalked by a neo Nazi hit man under the employ of Al Qaeda operatives. The reader follows Agent David on a trail laced with cryptic clues and the blood of innocents, until he reaches the ultimate and devastating conclusion along the dark banks of the River Seine in Paris. That’s all I can say without giving it all away.

You’ve got to give us more. Tell us about Matt David. What do we need to know about him?
Well…. Special Agent Matt David is a one-of-a-kind hero. He’s young, witty, handsome, with a razor sharp mind. A brilliant scientific sleuth…all at once cerebral, daring, insightful, yet vulnerable.  Matt’s back story concerns pivotal events which took place in Israel some time ago. When the reader first meets him in New York City, Matt is still in a semi-state of  mourning, yearning for a tragically lost love. But fast-occurring events propel him into a situation where he finds himself succumbing to the dangerous lure of an irresistible woman.

Raised in New York, but displaced to Israel, Matt is as All-American as baseball. He is driven by an insatiable curiosity– some could call it blind determination- which leads him to take the kind of risks a more timid man would shun.

Who is this irresistible woman?
Layli Khalami, a beautiful and exotic entomologist. She inhabits the Paris of the young and irreverent and has dedicated her life to two causes–science and the salvation of her people. To those ends, she willingly embarks on a mission fraught with danger.

We haven’t even asked what genre this is.
The Madness Analog falls most comfortably within the over-arching genre of General Fiction, and the sub-genres of terrorist-fiction/suspense, espionage, and mystery/thriller.

Are there any other characters we need to meet?
We also have Patrick Daniel McCarthy, an FBI forensic chemist par excellence. Not only is he Matt’s devoted and loyal friend in America, but he knows how to solve scientific riddles.  Pat abhors formality of any kind; loathes authority, and  adores a good joke, a potent drink, and women of virtually any dimension– but not necessarily in that order.

Rounding out the cast of major characters is Floyd Flynn, a neo-Nazi homicidal psychopath, whose murderous appetite is tinged with a perverse sexuality; Akim Fawzi, an Al Qaeda mastermind living in the shadows of America; and Solomon the wise, caring, but pragmatic sage who oversees a cadre of counterterrorism Mossad agents throughout the world, including Matt David. I would describe Solomon as both a super spy, and a super human being.

Have you written any other books that we should read next?
A Matt David sequel is definitely in the works. There’s a lot of ground yet to cover.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I have come late to novel writing, having devoted my professional life until now writing, editing, and creating nonfiction science materials for young adult and adult readers. I’ve been fortunate in that some of the works I’ve created have garnered national awards.

After earning a B.S. in chemistry and biology at CCNY in New York, I worked as an analytical chemist. I later ventured into the world of publishing as a way of marrying my scientific training to my literary ambitions. Along the way, I enjoyed (really, I did) two years in the Medical Department of the U.S. Army as a preventive medicine technician and surgical technician, in the United States and in Italy.

Feeding my wanderlust, in my late teens I went to sea as a merchant seaman, visiting ports in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South America.  As a science journalist working at Scholastic, Inc., I was invited by the National Science Foundation to visit and interview scientists working in Antarctica and the South Pole. I also observed, but did not interview, lumbering Weddell seals and frisky Adelie penguins. Only one continent has eluded my footfall,  Australia. It’s on my to do list.  Born and raised in way-upper Manhattan, I now live in Sarasota, Florida where I don’t miss driving on ice but do miss the verve of the “Big Apple.”

Note to New York agents and publishers: invite me. I need an excuse to fly “home.

How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?
Follow me on Twitter: @AuthorProujan and, The Madness Analog has its own Facebook page. Look for it.

How easily do new storylines come to you? If we give you four random words – Man, Woman, Airport, Darkness – can you give us a brief storyline?
Let’s see: A woman joins a crowd of awaiting passengers at the International Departures Terminal of JFK airport. Subtly, she transfers a small package to a mysterious man in a nondescript business suit. The man saunters out of the terminal and disappears into the darkness of a New York summer night. The woman, satisfied that she has followed orders exactly, watches uninterestedly as a plane bound for Turkey departs without her.
