Interview with Greer Noble, author of Veiled Madness

Veiled Madness is about the Africa of old, the decadent colonial Africa, a beautiful wild girl and her cheetah, her loves, her hunter-turned-conservationist father and the interesting, often difficult and dangerous road they have to travel.

A cowardly and macabre killing, depraved sex, illicit drug use, blackmail and murder, the daring rescue of a fugitive from a hostile African state and the hunt at night for a marauding lion.

These events, nevertheless, pale in comparison with the shocking discovery of the identities of the people responsible for the crimes, their reason for committing them and their ultimate fate.

It’s a murder mystery, a tale of violence and beauty.

What genre does that make this novel?
Erotic, romantic, murder mystery – suspense.

We love that it’s set in Africa.
If you like African safaris; exploring uncharted territory, the unusual, the exotic or the unexpected, you’ll love my book.

You mentioned a beautiful wild girl. Tell us who she is.
Sanya, brought up in the wilds of Africa, has the curiosity and charisma of a leopard and the affection and loyalty of a lion.  A calm, sultry, deep thinker, she is easily humoured and just as easily hurt. While a risk-taker, she is no prude and nobody’s fool.

She’s striking, with the looks of an Egyptian Goddess.

Tell us about her father; you said the story is also about him.
Her father, O’Hara, a gentleman’s gentleman and fearless hunter is blessed with a good sense of humour, the charm of the Irish and the tenacity of his Scottish ancestors. A  compassionate man, he has a deep love for the wilds.. but nothing can compare with the love he has for his daughter.

Have you written any other books that we should read next?
I’ve written a thriller, Checkmate Conspiracy (which somehow ended up as ‘Checkmate‘), an erotic thriller, and I’m presently working on my first non-fiction, My Funny Africa. This one is quite different; and illustrated collection of funny and sometimes terrifying bushwhacker stories.

Africa seems to crop up a lot in your work.
I adore the outdoors.. and Africa. I live between Europe and Africa, mainly in Kenya.

I’m better with the pen than the spoken word, love to be with eccentric people but am content with my own company. I’m in my element when writing a new book or on safari exploring uncharted territory. I’m unconventional and don’t like to waste too much time sleeping.

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?

How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?

How easily do new storylines come to you? If we give you four random words – Man, Woman, Airport, Darkness – can you give us a brief storyline?
The man disguised as a woman covertly enters the airport building and surreptitiously looks around. He’s early by design. He needs the time to familiarise himself with the layout before nightfall, so that when his mission is accomplished he can dispose of his disguise and make a hasty retreat, melting undetected into the night, under the blanket of darkness.

That’s great.
What’s next for you?
I’m working on my first non-fiction, a collection of enthralling short stories.
