Searching for Home is a sci-fi/futuristic book with hints of romance that follows the main character Csilla, who was sent away from her planet with a group of males to ensure her species wasn’t totally wiped out after an attack on her people. She chooses to honor her people by rescuing those that are powerless against their captors. It ends up being quite a feat for someone that comes from a pacifist race.

The book chronicles a particular mission that Csilla plays a key part in and will eventually turn her world upside down. It has a few sweet moments, but for the most part, Csilla doesn’t deal well with the males that she meets and she isn’t shy about letting others know just how she feels.

What genre is this?
I usually say science fiction just because when I think of space, aliens and other planets I think of science fiction.

Oh? That makes it sound like it’ll appeal to a different demographic. Who is it aimed at?
Those that like strong female leads that when pushed to their limits find themselves crumbling just a little.

This is really bad, but I haven’t really read any other books from this genre. I tend to stick to paranormal, which is why I wanted to write something a little outside of my comfort zone.

Tell us about Csilla.
She’s who you follow around, so I guess she’s most important anyway. At the age of fourteen she was sent from her planet with a group of males that were more like uncles than romantic partners. During the time between her being sent away and the book starting, she became a really strong warrior that rarely ever gets taken seriously among anyone not in her group. She’s now twenty-two and obviously feels a lot differently about things than her fourteen-year-old version of herself did. She wants to continue her fight against tyrants, but there is a part of her that secretly wishes she could settle down and have a family like the one that was taken from her.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m a shy, thirtysomething woman living in the Midwest with my husband and two dogs. I have a ton of hobbies that really don’t make sense together like my love of riding my Harley and my obsession with arts and crafts .

I’ve said it a million times, a million places, before, but I write because I would seriously go insane if I didn’t. There have been times where I can’t do anything else other than let a plot play out in my head and just when I think I’ve got it set, the what ifs start up and chaos eventually ensues until I get it down on the computer.

Since plots come to you that easily, what can you do with these four words – man, woman, darkness, airport?
Warning: Less than five minutes of thought went into this and it might be frightening.

Claire, a quiet woman that hides away from the world, sat nervously waiting for her flight to be called. It was her first time taking an airplane and she was having second thoughts. If her sister wasn’t as ill as she claimed, she would have driven the ten hours to get to her, but Sophia swore she was on her deathbed. As it reached the twenty minute mark of waiting, the airport suddenly went dark. Claire’s world forever changed as she watched a man appear in front of her and reach out his hand. She took it not knowing what else to do and felt a fuzzy feeling overcome her as her and the man were teleported from the airport to another place and time.

That’s spooky.
What are you working on next?
I’m working on two books currently with another handful trying to compete for position. The first is the third book in my Unlucky in Love series about a group of Greek gods and goddesses set in modern time. The other current work is just a paranormal book that started out as one thought and morphed into a completely different story. I really hate when they do that.
