Due to war, environmental mistreatment, and the overuse of natural resources, Earth was brought to the brink of catastrophe. In order to preserve human civilization, nations put aside their animosity and worked together to find a new home world within the Milky Way Galaxy. It appeared to be the perfect planet to call Second Earth, and
humanity thought this new world would be all for their taking; however, a race of people known as the Zull also needed this planet for their salvation.

Because of fear, hate, and distrust, the races were unable to comprise. Earth then united their militaries to form the Earth United Front (EUF) and a war for total supremacy erupted.

Now, a lone journalist named Alex Mercer travels to Second Earth seeking to understand why the war has been drawn out for three years, even though the simple solution of “coexistence” could end it tomorrow.

Tell us more.
While on his adventure, Alex becomes acquainted with an EUF soldier named Andrea Blair, whose cold gray eyes tell a tale of death, sorrow, and hate. And though Andrea seems to be nothing more than a heartless Zull killer, Alex sees something more behind her cruel demeanor. Alex sees someone who wants to simply laugh, love, and enjoy life; and for much of his time on Second Earth, it becomes his personal mission to prevent Andrea from remaining the cold shell of a person she has become, as well as prevent humankind and Zull from wiping each other out.

Of all the wars Alex has covered, he has never experienced one quite like this, and he has certainly never met a woman like Andrea Blair.

What genre is it?
Exodus Conflict is science fiction, but has some dystopian and utopian elements as well.

Exodus Conflict will appeal to readers aged 18-30 who like sci-fi or are simply looking for a good read that contains action, adventure, romance.

We wondered if there’ll be romance. Tell us about Alex and Andrea.
Alex Mercer is a journalist, and because of the horrors he witnessed covering WWIV, he sees war as a needless taker of life, an awful solution to settling dissension. And he believes that humanity and Zull can settle their differences peacefully, without continuing to war with each other.

But while Alex is a pacifist, Andrea is not. She is a soldier for the EUF and is pro war. She believes that war is the only way of settling humanity’s differences with the Zull.

Also, Andrea hates the Zull with every fiber of her being. But there is a reason for this. Andrea has witnessed many friends die and was once brutally beaten and tortured by a small group of Zull, leaving her with mental and physical scars.

But while she believes that the small group of Zull who beat and tortured her are a reflection of what all Zull are like, Alex knows that, for the most part, both races are good people who can coexist, though there are dark hearts within the good people of both races, such as the Zull who tortured Andrea.

Though Alex and Andrea hold different beliefs and constantly try to get each other to see things his/her way, they seem to start to fall for each other and may be on the verge of forming a relationship that personifies what coexistence is all about. Yet Alex has a secret that may jeopardize that relationship.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I currently live in Washington, DC where I work full time and volunteer tutoring and mentoring children.

When not busy doing this, I am writing. I hope to create novels that address what I believe are some of the most crucial issues of our time and explore the trials of being human. I hope to create characters that people can relate to and stories that will have an impact on them long after they are finished reading one of my novels.
