Detective Paul Friedman is a homicide investigator for the Orlando Police Department. The mangled corpse of a young teen is found in the wreck of a vehicle. During his investigation of the case, Friedman learns of a plot by Islamic terrorists to attack the city of Orlando as part of a larger attack on America in multiple cities. This plot is called by the terrorists, The Perfect Day.

Jerome Eisman is a reporter for the local Orlando Public Broadcasting channel. He is drawn into the story of his life in learning of a white supremacist group wanting to carry out attacks against minorities in the city of Orlando. It may very well be the story that makes his career, if he survives, that is.

We’ve met these characters before, haven’t we?

The Perfect Day is the sequel to the crime/thriller Fair Play.

This book is in the same arena, right?

The Perfect Day is kind of a blend of the crime/thriller and mystery/suspense genres.

If you like the show 24 or Alias, you’ll love my book.

Tell us about Paul Friedman.

Paul is the lead as a homicide detective in Orlando. He believes in getting the job done, no matter what it takes.

Who else do we need to meet?

Jerome is the street-wise reporter for a local public television station. He is interested in getting the story, getting that one story that will capture the attention of someone in a larger market and maybe mean his ticket out of Orlando.

Ali the Sand Viper is a man who hates America. A dedicated Muslim whose only goal in life is to bring about the End of Days, the Twelfth Imam and a global Islamic Caliphate. He plots to do this by organizing The Perfect Day.

Are we going to meet Paul again after this novel?

I am currently working on The Consortium which is the third book.

The Consortium is a book that will add to the action from The Perfect Day. It is going to be a fast paced thriller along the same lines as the first two with an ominous political threat looming overhead.

Tell us about yourself.

I have been writing for a number of years, since Junior High. I am a full time freelance writer of articles, product descriptions and more. I spent a number of years as a ghostwriter writing fiction and more for people and getting paid to do so. When a couple of the ghostwritten books I wrote ended up on the top ten list, I decided to write one with my name on it.

How easily do new storylines come to you? If we give you four random words – Man, Woman, Airport, Darkness – can you give us a brief storyline?

An EMP blast shuts an airport down at a critical time. Panic ensues as people rush to avoid the planes that are crashing down around the building. A man and a woman, the last to disembark from a plane that had made it safely to the gate must fight their way through pitch blackness to make it through the airport and home.
