Why you must read Charles Veley’s The Last Moriarty
In November, 1895, powerful men of two nations call on Sherlock Holmes to solve a murder and prevent an international disaster. But a lovely woman from Holmes’s past desperately needs his help. Holmes decides to take her case. Now he must stop a revived Moriarty gang, whose leader is bent on avenging his brother’s death at Reichenbach, and the deadly assassin Colonel Moran, on the loose with the latest devices of destruction. Holmes must also look deeply into the past, and into emotions he never shows to the public, as he comes to terms with events that could change his life and darken the lives of millions. Sherlock Holmes? That Sherlock Holmes?! Fantastic. We presume he’s up to his usual sleuthing. And is Watson in it? That’s what today’s readers want. How else is your Sherlock different? Have you written any other books that we should read next? We’ll check it out. Besides “The Last Moriarty,” I also wrote the book and lyrics for “The Pirates of Finance,” a musical comedy that has been performed in Wilton and Stamford, CT, Los Angeles and Burbank, CA, Gettysburg, PA and New York City, and received an honorable mention for excellence in lyrics at last year’s New York Musical Theatre Festival. That’s impressive. What’s next? How easily do new storylines come to you? If we give you four random words – Man, Woman, Mexico, Future – can you give us a brief storyline? But what the heck – in 1994, a woman vacationing with her husband at a luxury Cozumel resort swims into an underground cave. While she’s exploring, there’s an explosion. When she comes to the surface again, she discover’s she’s now thirty years into the future, and the son she was pregnant with is now the leader of a Mexican cartel. She must find her husband (if he’s still alive) and either make her son see how he needs to change… or kill him. |
