Tell us about All For Love
All For Love: The man of her dreams may be the worst thing that ever happened to her.

Liz falls in love with Quinn the moment they meet in college.  He professes to love her, too.  She begins to think about the future, but his past rips them apart.  What Liz does next impacts the rest of their lives, but she feels it is the only way… she does it all for love.

What genre is it?
Literary fiction/women’s fiction.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
I thought I was writing it mainly for women, because it deals with issues women face everyday.  However, some of my most ardent reviewers have been men.

That’s interesting. How long did it take to write?
It took over a year to write because when I thought it was finished, my editor thought I was just getting started.  I actually wound up rewriting the entire book because I had originally written it as a series of alternating flashbacks.

What was the most challenging part of your creative process?
Some of the scenes in this book are horrific to imagine.  I always put a bit of my flesh and blood in my characters–and sometimes it difficult to staunch the flow.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I live in Texas with my hubby, two rescue dogs, and one rescue cat who is convinced she was queen of the world in a previous life.  I work part-time for an online journal, The Courthouse News Service, as a researcher, but I’ve done everything from waiting tables to working as an emergency (911) dispatcher to teaching public school.

I also write short fiction and middle grade fiction.

Have you got a blog where readers can keep up with your work?
Yes!  Ann’s Afterthoughts.

What’s next?
My new suspense novel, Stutter Creek, will be released by 5 Prince in June, 2013.  It is the story of a woman who, following her father’s death and the collapse of her marriage, retreats to the family cabin at Stutter Creek where she stumbles across the path of a serial killer and winds up fighting to stay alive.

  1. Great interview, Ann! I can commiserate. I trashed Book 2 in my series after a couple rewrites and started over again. It was difficult to do at the time, but a wise decision.

    • Yay! Glad I’m not the only one ~ thanks!
