It’s about a middle-aged private investigator by the name of Gabriel Crane who finds his business in shambles due to an economic recession. So he did what anyone in his position would have done. He went for a beer.

Unknown to him this sets off a chain of events that thrusts him into the middle of a mythological battle between the forces of evil and the legendary beings of Olympus. His initial thoughts on the matter is that he doesn’t really care about their war, but after Hades tries to kill him, he discovers that he is the legendary Guardian – an immortal tool of the gods used to prevent the forces of Tartarus from destroying the planet.  Reluctantly he embraces his new role as he travels across the country battling the forces of evil. He is effective but he complains most of the time.

What genre is it?
I was originally shooting for YA Fantasy, but as the story developed I would have to say it morphed more into Fantasy Adventure. It’s a dish of Fantasy with a side order of humor.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
It should appeal to any fans of mythology, fantasy and action/adventure. Or anyone who enjoys a character who can provide witty banter.

Complete this sentence for us: if you like _________________, you’ll love The Guardian Chronicles.
Percy Jackson or Clash of the Titans.

Tell us a little more about Gabriel Crane.
Gabriel Crane is a bit of a drifter and a sarcastic slacker. He coasts through life not really excelling at anything. He prefers a cold beer over friendship. His friends list is slim, his relationship list even slimmer. He hates commitment and absolutely shuns responsibility. Having one of the most important jobs in the history of the planet only succeeds in aggravating him.

Oh, is he a sympathetic character? Will we identify with him?
I would like to reader to close the book as Gabriel Crane. Don’t partake in the adventure WITH him, but BE him.

Have you written any other books that we should read next?
Prior to this I have only written fan fiction for The Walking Dead as well as some unpublished short stories. The Guardian Chronicles is my first foray into the land of the novel.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am actually remarkably new to the world of novel writing. Prior to this novel, I spent a majority of life working in manufacturing. I was a cubicle groundhog. I only popped my head out to see if we had six more weeks of winter. Most of my writing had been only semi-serious and only to appease the voices in my head.  The voices demanded more so out came my first novel.

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?
www.craiggaydas.com.

How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?

What’s next?
I am about halfway done with my next novel. It is a revenge story- sort of a mix of Kill Bill and The Crow. I hope to have it completed by the end of the summer.

For a first time writer, Craig’s writing style is masterful. He gets his characters out there and knows how to systematically get them introduced and then get them all involved in the story line seamlessly. Beginning with his electrifying opening pages ‘The Guardian Chronicles’ is a revealing portrayal of a private eye’s ho hum life to a world wind of characters, some of which he can trust and others that he is not so sure of. The writing is wonderful and the story unforgettable.
