The Forbidden Flower series is a controversial, but sweet, romance series about society’s last taboo – sexual love between siblings.

The Forbidden Flower series is comprised of Love’s Forbidden Flower and Time’s Forbidden Flower. They are very unconventional, New Adult Romances that involve siblings. Unlike other books that address the subject of consanguinamoury, the characters are not dysfunctional. Like most of the 10-15% of collage age adults that have been involved sexually with a sibling, you would never guess the secret they hold. They are not siblings for shock value or to play to fetishes, these are straight-up Romance Novels based on some real situations, not erotica.

Oh wow, you’re right, this is unconventional. And you say it’s New Adult romance?
New Adult Contemporary Romance – albeit very controversial.

This reminds us of Virginia Andrews’ Flowers In The Attic series, but those siblings were imprisoned in an attic, these aren’t. You say they’re pretty normal?
Lily is a very independent thinker who tends to be a bit on the sarcastic side. She knows her worth and has no qualms over if the love in her heart for her brother, Donovan, is right or wrong. Over the two books we watch her go from being “very sixteen” to maturing into a successful, thirty-year-old business woman.

Tell us about Donovan.
Donovan is not as comfortable in his skin as Lily. He is also not as strong at dealing with his feelings. Or is he? There is a lot of mystery around Donovan and the explosive reasons lead to a twist no one ever sees coming.

We’re hooked.
Is there anyone else we need to meet?
Christopher is a goofy, charismatic, free-spirited Manc who feels as if he is always misunderstood. There is no one else in the world like Christopher!

Who will it appeal to?
Open-minded romance lovers who want something unconventional.

Complete this sentence for us: if you like _________________, you’ll love this series.
witty, dramatic, love stories with a civil rights message.

Civil rights?
Upon doing research I discovered that there are so many biases toward the subject that I could not find a single book that really tackled it non-judgmentally. Yet the more I dug, the more common I found the real-life situation to be. There are definitely stories to be told, and I wanted to do so while making the reader forget about the relation and just see the unfairness of societies biases. Love’s Forbidden Flower is a dark human rights piece disguised as a witty romance novel.

You say it’s not erotica, but sex has to play a huge part in this story, right?
There are two official books in this series: Love’s Forbidden Flower and Time’s Forbidden Flower. Between the two lies Love’s Erotic Flower, which is not essential. Think of it as erotic fan fiction for those who want more.

So was Flowers In The Attic the inspiration behind your story?
I watched The Buttercup Chain, a 60’s counter culture film. The two main characters are cousins, via identical twins, who were raised as brother and sister. A small part of the story is based on their obvious romantic connection. The woman is accepting of her emotions while the man is conflicted. Both the book and the film taunted you with the situation but never gave you enough of it to make the storyline satisfying.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Enjoying San Francisco as a backdrop, the ghosts in Diane’s 150-year old Victorian home augment the chorus in her head. With insomnia as their catalyst, these voices have become multifarious characters that haunt her well into the sun’s crowning hours, refusing to let go until they have manipulated her into succumbing to their whims. Her experiences as an actress, business owner, artisan cake designer, software project manager, Internet radio disc jockey, vintage rock n’ roll journalist/fan girl, and lover of dark and
quirky personalities influence her idiosyncratic writing.

What’s next?
I am currently working on another Contemporary Romance entitled, Scary Modsters… and Creepy Freaks about a Rock n Roll fangirl who summons a rock star back to life. This will be much lighter and without controversy.
