The letters begin shortly after George’s arrival at boot camp in 1942 and chronicle his journey through the South Pacific until a week before his death in the Battle of Luzon in 1945.

All my love, George” is a collection of letters written by army medic, George Burks, to his parents and younger brother during his service to our country in WWII.

In addition to George’s letters are the thoughts and memories of George’s younger brother who was a twelve year old boy when he last hugged his brother good-bye. Over sixty years later, though, the pain and pride are still as fresh as if it were yesterday.

Oh wow, that’s so sad.
Readers of “All my love, George” will laugh, smile, cry, grieve this family’s loss and deeply wish George would have been able to write just one more letter…the one that said, “I’m coming home”.

Who do you expect these readers to be?
History buffs Anyone who enjoy true stories/memoirs Military families and veterans

Tell us a little more about who George was.
George Burks was an army medic from rural Missouri who said good-bye to his family at the train station in the summer of 1942 and never came home. He served his country diligently and selflessly; earning a Purple Heart, Silver Star and was to receive a Distinguished Service Cross, but did not live to do so. The gentle, kind and thoughtful young man George was is evident in each letter. His main concern is that his family not worry about him and that they know how much he loves them.

This sounds like a valuable fractal of American military history. How did you come across his story?
George Burks was my uncle. And though I never knew him, I am proud to call him family.

Oh wow. You said he had a younger brother.  Does that mean he’s your …
Benny Burks is my father. Listening to him tell George’s story and watching him struggle in doing so was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. It took great strength for him to open his heart and mind to me; reliving something he wished with all his heart had never happened.

I knew I wanted to become a writer after meeting Judy Blume when I was in the fourth grade and she signed my copy of “Are You There, God, it’s me, Margaret”.

I have spent most of my writing career ghostwriting and writing for various publications, but now it is time to tell my stories-the stories that have made my life the amazing adventure it has been.

I am married to my childhood sweetheart, John. We have four children and five grandchildren.
