Jade Spencer is at a crossroads. She has spent her entire life living under the shadow of someone else’s rule. First, her controlling grandmother, who unwillingly inherited the job of raising her and her brother Drew. Then, her fiance Evan, who was also controlling. Notice a theme? Now she is ready to live life by her own rules. She breaks it off with her shady fiance, and packs her bags for good. What better place to follow your dreams and desires than New York City? With help from her Aunt Vivian; her cousin Jackie; a new place; new job, and new experiences waiting, she intends to live life to the fullest. But, things turn tricky when two fated encounters both lead to powerful emotions.

Julian Garza is the most desirable, and haunting man Jade has ever met. He sets her on fire from their very first chance encounter. Jade finds him totally irresistible, and promptly falls under his spell. But there is a dark shadow attached to Julian that leaves Jade hesitant, and has her aunt telling her to run.

John Benson is the perfect man. A handsome, successful lawyer; John provides a friendship like no other, and a love that Jade has never known. For the first time she feels truly loved, but we all know there is no such thing as perfect.

So you have a not-so-classic love triangle, with a hint of mystery. What could possibly be the problem? Jade doesn’t believe in love, and lives by denial. Being abandoned by her mother at a young age has left her with a hard shell around her heart, and an even harder time letting her feelings show. As she tries to find herself through her new relationships, Jade learns the hard way that sometimes intentions mean everything, and nothing at all. Will she find love or will she leave a trail of jaded hearts? Love, secrets, and lies are all on the menu.

What genre is it?
Contemporary Romance/IR

What kind of readers will it appeal to?
So far my book has appealed to a cross-genre group. It’s an Interracial romance, but I didn’t really market it as such, and I don’t really make a fuss over that fact. I just wrote a story about characters who meet and fall in love. I’ve received emails from readers who don’t normally read IR or multicultural books, but liked it and can’t wait for the follow up. With all that, I think it will appeal to anyone who likes an emotionally gripping story. It’s not a Cinderella HEA it’s a HFN. The follow up is due out in the next month (June 2013). It will have the HEA.

Complete this sentence for us: if you like _________________, you’ll love Jaded Hearts.
If you like books that read like a movie, you’ll love my book. If you like Bared to You or The Opportunist, you’ll love my book.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m a goofy, sarcastic writer with a romantic heart. I love reading and have been reading since I was very young. That lead to my love of writing and I have been a writer since I was 8. I’m decades past 8 years old, but I’ve just now found the courage to share my writing with others. I’m a mom, a sister and have fantastic family and friends that I share my life with.

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?
My main website is vialinden.com, and I also started a blog olivialinden.wordpress.com.

How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?

What’s next?
My plan is to complete an entire Jaded Hearts Club series where the stories and characters will intertwine. I also want to write children’s books with my son and venture into mystery too. I’m collaborating with nine other writers for a book of poetry dedicated to an African Diaspora exhibit later this year, and I’m working on my own book of poetry based on the Jaded Hearts Club series.
