Though set in a small English village, Shattered is not a cosy murder mystery. It is the story of a community torn apart by fear and suspicion when it finds itself in the grip of a terrifying serial killer.

With the village’s daughters being going missing one after another, only to be found, brutally murdered, it doesn’t take long for the police or the community at large to find themselves a suspect. New to the village, and author of brutal crime thrillers, Jason Denton
immediately comes under suspicion. Constable Donna Harp isn’t as convinced of Jason’s guilt as everyone else, and sets out to prove someone else could be the killer. Is she being swayed by the author’s charm though?

What genre is this book?

Shattered is listed as a drama and police procedural, but it also has thriller and suspense elements.

The front cover describes this as “A Donna Harp novel.” Tell us who Donna is.

The main character of the book is Donna Harp, a young and inexperienced police constable. She is determined to do her job to the best of her abilities, even if that means fighting  prejudice, her superior, and the rest of the village.

What kind of readers will it appeal to?

Shattered appeals to readers of hard-hitting police procedurals, dramas and thrillers, those who like their reads to have a strong element of reality about them, even if that makes the story disturbing and hard to read.

What other authors might that type of reader enjoy?

James Patterson.

He tends to take his readers on a rollercoaster ride. Can readers expect the same from Shattered?

I’d like readers to get to the end of the book and be desperate to find out what happens next. While it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger it does leave some things unresolved.

So there’s more?

I have written a number of books aside from Shattered. First, and most importantly is the sequel to Shattered, The Reckoning, which I am in the process of serialising, 3 episodes are currently available, Escape, Safe? and Flight, with the fourth being written now.

You say you’ve written a number of books.  Tell us about some of the others.

There is Deceptions, another serialised novel, a dramatic action, parts 1 and 2, The Witness and The Bodyguard are currently available with The Professional and The Double-Cross, the last two parts due out before the end of July, 2013.

I also have a sci-fi adventure novel, A Brother’s Debt, an urban paranormal action, Devil’s Spawn, Devil’s Pawn, and a series of shorts available.

Tell us about yourself.

I’ve been writing since I was about ten, after being given a creative writing assignment in school. The bug bit me, and ever since I’ve found myself unable to stop coming up with ideas.

When I’m not writing, which is rare, I like to play golf or read. As I get more and more into my writing I find my reading takes a back seat, but I still take the time to enjoy it when I can.

What’s next?

Next up is finishing the serialised sequel to Shattered, and my serialised novel, Deceptions. After that, I have about a million other projects to work on, including a couple of co-written projects I am considering.
