Interview with Patrick Siana, author of Reckoning
A Nation’s Shadowed Heritage Uncovered… The Quarter-Century War is over. The barbarian incursion has been driven back, and the kingdom of Galacia has known a lasting period of peace for the first time in centuries, but all of that is about to change for Galacia’s sordid history has just come to call. A Marshal rises… Far from the scheming of queen and council Elias Duana is preparing to wed the mayor’s daughter and settle into a comfortable life in the sleepy town of Knoll Creek. An unexpected visit from wealthy rancher and nobleman Roderick Macallister, however, is about to change Elias’s life forever. When Macallister offers to buy Elias’s homestead he turns him away, but little does Elias know that his refusal to sell will bring to a culmination a centuries-long feud between two royal dynasties and spark a daunting journey into his father’s mysterious past and the secrets he held as a Galacian Marshal. Reckoning is the first book in your The Empyrean Chronicle series. Tell us about it. Tell us more about the main character upon whose shoulder the series rests. When Elias’s father’s – and his nation’s – mysterious past comes knocking at his door, however, he finds a strength and a purpose that has eluded him all his life. Though his father taught him basic self-defense techniques, Elias’s strength is his his intellect and his wit. He was educated by his father, Padraic Duana, and his father’s best friend Dr. Phinneas Crowe. Elias is an thinking-man’s hero, though he is no slouch with a longblade! Are we going to have to wait forever for the next instalment of the series? That’s great to know. We get impatient! I like the play the guitar, video games, board games (often geeky ones like Heroscape!) with friends, and also watch movies and cook in my free time. Reading, of course, is also at the top of the list. I like books that challenge and test the boundaries of the mind, and truly transport me, whether to another world, another time, or just into another person’s point of view. Do you have a website?
