TERMS OF TEMPTATION is set in still-wild Wyoming at the turn of the 20th century. Headstrong Kinley Cantrell, thought eccentric and troublesome by much of her community, is determined to rescue and protect the animals she loves. When her stand against poaching leads her to become Deputy Game Warden Bram Killoran’s ally, her spirit and passion clash with his tangled conflict of duty and desire. Now more than their hearts will be at risk – their very lives are on the line as well!

What genre is this, and who is it aimed at?
Western historical romance.

Anyone who enjoys Westerns, historical romance, page-turning action, heartfelt emotion, or stories with a touch of the paranormal.

Tell us about Kinley and Bram.
Bram Killoran takes his job as a game warden very seriously. He is also a man who loves his freedom; he believes he is too footloose to ever settle down with a wife and family. He is a deeply ethical man who takes responsibility for his actions, but at times, he can be a bit blockheaded.

Kinley Cantrell, daughter of Michael and Annie Cantrell from TERMS OF SURRENDER and TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT, is the “wild child” of her family. She’s been devoted to the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wild animals since childhood.

She’s been in other novels? Do we have to read them first to really get to know her?
Perhaps the best way to introduce Kinley is to let some of the nearby townsfolk comment after they witnessed her berate a drunken bully for neglecting his horse:

“That crazy Cantrell girl’s at it again….”
“Well, can’t say she don’t have some grit….”
“Good thing her brother Ted was here, ’cause drunk as he is, ol’ Purvis mighta got in a lucky swing an’ fair killed her….”
“Dunno, reckon that little bit of a thing mighta killed Purvis first, feisty as she is….”
“Well, I declare, she isn’t a bit like that sweet little twin of hers – and doesn’t that give a body pause….”
“My oldest boy, Wesley, escorted her to the Harvest Dance last fall, don’t you know, but turned out she spent the whole time bending his poor ear about bighorn sheep – or maybe it was muskrats or weasels or some other such nonsense, but can you even imagine…?”
“Heard she’s got pens full of grizzly cubs and wolves up at that menagerie of hers, boxes full of rattlers, too….”
“Ya ask me, Cap’n an’ Miz Cantrell oughta lock that one up an’ throw away the goldurn key….”

Sounds like she’s really something.
I’d love to have Kinley’s gumption!

You mentioned some other novels.
TERMS OF TEMPTATION is a stand-alone novel, but it contains characters who also appear in TERMS OF SURRENDER and TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT. Together, these three Western historical romances follow the same family through the second half of the 19th century and into the start of the 20th.

What’s next?
I’m currently working on another time-travel story with a Western theme. I enjoy making the familiar seem strange and disorienting, as it is when seen through the eyes of a person who is out of place and out of time.

How easily do new storylines come to you? If we give you four random words – Man, Woman, Mexico, Future – can you give us a brief storyline?
In 16th century Mexico, during the midnight battle of La Noche Triste, a wounded conquistador in Cortés’ fleeing army manages to elude capture. Stumbling through the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan, he crawls into an abandoned stone passageway, where he falls unconscious.

Some 500 years in the future, his body – perfectly preserved, as though he had simply fallen asleep – is discovered by a young female archeologist excavating ruins of the ancient city. And then he awakens…
